In rereading the first female translation of Homer’s Odyssey by Emily Wilson, we resonated with the idea of the host, the importance of treating the total stranger with kindness, generosity, deep respect. Xenia is the ancient etiquette of hosting/hospitality. (It’s the opposite of xenophobia and Zeus will look unkindly on you if you don’t practice hospitality!)
